Project Description
The Bistable Haptic Switch is a bimanual, multimodal haptic device with intended applications to a remake of the two-player game, Rock 'Em Sock 'Em for blind and low vision (BLV) players. This device combines kinesthetic and vibrotactile haptic feedback to allow users to input a swing (signifying a jab) and haptically perceive when they have hit their opponent. The mechanism features a 3D printed paddle, which upon closing either electric switch, turns on a vibrational motor, each one set to vibrate at a different speed & therefore signifies different states/positions. Future work would focus on extending the game to two player and focus on creating a bidirectional haptic experience for both players.
